West Can Support Sunnis and Remove Assad

After warring for years against Muslim countries, the U.S. is missing a golden opportunity to reaffirm its secular stance.  Syria is beyond ready for military intervention, even from war-wary countries.  The first Iraq war did not stop the U.S. from turning the tide (in favor of Muslims) in Kosovo.  The second should not stop it from doing the same in Syria.  Certainly, the U.S. can support Muslims and fight against the Assad regime without choosing between Sunnis and Alawites.  This article details the most recent Sunni efforts at legitimate resistance.

The more senseless murder we see, the more numb we grow.  This numbness already prevents the West from intervening in Africa, and, in part, prevents Russia and China from supporting tough resolutions in Syria.  Do we intervene, or turn a blind eye?  Only time and desperation will tell.
